Create Many Ripples
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples” - Mother Theresa
My Dad once told me that if he put his hand in a bucket of water and pulled it out, the impression left in that bucket of water is the same as the impression he’ll have left of the world when he dies. I knew then that it wasn’t true, he was just being humble. I’ve discovered in the last 8 weeks just how humble he was.
My Dad was a rock, a boulder, thrown into water that created a huge ripple effect that touched not just the people around him, but continuing on to the people they knew, then to the people those people knew, and so on. I knew how wonderful he was to me and our family, but I’ve been blown away by so many stories of his kindness and seen so much evidence of just how amazing he was to everyone he met.
Everything I do in a day - not just for my business and my clients and my family, but for people around me, is inspired by him. His work ethic, his giving heart, his wit and humor, his logic and stoicism. Every quality that entrepreneurs NEED to have to be successful, he embodied. Fully. His voice in my ear to keep going is what is driving me forward. Everything I do is to make him proud.
How do you make a difference? For yourself? For your family? For your clients & customers? What ripple effect are you causing?
Contrary to what my Dad believed of himself, his effect on this world was immense, and he is greatly missed. I read a quote that said “No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away.“
If that is true, my Dad will live forever.
