Feel the Fear...and Do It Anyway!
There are some people who face every challenge with confidence in themselves and their ability to succeed. I don’t know any of those people, but I’m sure they must exist somewhere, right?
Most of us face those challenges with a little voice in the back of their heads warning of imminent failure. What if my business doesn’t succed? What if I can’t provide the service/good promised? What if something goes wrong? What if no one likes me?
To become an entrepreneur, we must somehow ignore that little voice and push forward anyway. All of the negative thoughts, the “what ifs” and “yeah, buts” have to be pushed down and drowned out with constant pep talks and inspirational quotes. We create vision boards and short-term and long-term goals. We plan and imagine what our successful business will look like. We dream.
But those negative thoughts and anxiety can sneak in at the most inopportune moments: when the phone rings with a new prospective client calling, when you get invited to a networking meeting, when you have to stand up and give your “elevator pitch”, when you actually land a client and then have to do the work, and countless other daily experiences in the life of an entrepreneur.
I’ve recently read a book that I feel every entrepreneur, and every person, for that matter, could benefit from. It’s called “Feel the Fear...and Do It Anyway” by Dr. Susan Jeffers. Through anecdotes and practical advice, she discusses ways not to overcome, but to use that fear to your advantage. To tell yourself, and actually believe, that no matter what comes your way, YOU CAN HANDLE IT!
This book has really transformed the way I approach situations that would’ve caused this recovering introvert to hide in a corner in the past. I am using Dr. Jeffers’ strategies and advice to better serve my clients, both current and future.
It dawned on me that if this book is helping me this much, it could surely help my clients - mostly entreprenuers themselves - as well! So please, if you get a chance, pick up a copy!

It’s an easy read, and a small investment of time with huge personal growth results. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
